The University of California-Riverside in partnership with American Forensic Nurses, presents online the Sexual Assault Examination: Adult/Adolescent a 40-hour comprehensive sexual assault examiner training program (SAE, SANE, FNE, SAFE). This course is designed to prepare registered nurses and other qualified health care professionals to conduct forensic evaluations on victims of sexual assault.
This course is offered without a preceptorship. It is the student’s responsibility to procure a clinical internship. Visit the IAFN (www.iafn.org) web site for clinical competency objectives. Clinical preceptor activities are validated by a physician, advanced practice nurse or a forensically experienced registered nurse. The student should be already employed with a hospital or clinic that currently performs sexual assault examinations (SART or similar).
Qualification for 40-hours of Continuing Education Credit are earned and completion of the academic portion of the program represents a total of 4 professional level course units that may be transferable depending on the accrediting rules of the institution where the transfer is sought.
Upon successful completion of the academic portion of the program the participant will receive a Certificate of Completion from the University of California, Riverside Extension.

The Pediatric Sexual Assault Forensic Nurse Examiner Online Training Program, an 85-hour comprehensive forensic program, is specifically designed for Registered Nurses and other qualified healthcare professionals interested in becoming Pediatric Forensic Examiners. In addition to the online academic program, there is a mandatory 45-hour clinical internship.
